CyPEC draft program

so far the CyPEC program is looking like this:
  • Cyberfeminism 101: the herstory of cyberfeminism from VNS Matrix and the Old Boys Room to cyberfeminism now
  • Being Frankenstein (or, I'd rather be a cyborg than a goddess): how science & society work to configure bodies (especially women's bodies) as monstrous and 'carnival'
  • Bingo! - the importance of subversive humor in cyberfeminism, culture jamming and on-line activism
  • Open Source for grrls: open source software and open source culture
  • Advocacy, Feminism and Transformative Works: How an
internet community engages with real-world social
    systems.
  • And then we will wrap it all up with a CyPEC dinner at a near by restaurant

To be part of CyPEC all you need to do is register as a regular member of Night’s Edge, and a day pass is available if you only want to attend CyPEC.

We still could do with a few more people on panels, so if you think you would like to be on any or know someone who would please email me at sajbrfem at gmail dot com asap.

CyPEC is on the 10th November

I just corrected a typo on the original info post that said CyPEC will be held at Night's Edge on the the 9th and 10th of November, which is incorrect. The correct date for Night's Edge is the 10th and 11th of November, with CyPEC being held as a 1 day program stream on Saturday the 10th.

Sorry if this typo has caused any confusion.

CyPEC – the Australasian summit of cyberfeminism

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the First Cyberfeminist International, the KanguerillaGirls collective will host a series of discussions within Night’s Edge, a cyberpunk conference being held at the Emerald Hotel, Perth, 10th – 11th November 2007.

Cyberfeminists from near and far are invited to join us for cyberfeminist discussion and celebration. Panels and discussions planned include ‘cyberfeminist herstory and cyberfeminism now’, ‘open source for grrls’, ‘I’d rather be a cyborg than a goddess’ and the launch of the project ’52 ways – a year long exploration into cyberfeminist artivism’.

An account of the summit will be recorded and sent to Irina Aristarkhova and Faith Wilding as Perth’s contribution to the Cyberfeminist Roundtable Discussion taking place in Berlin the following week.

To register your interest in participation or suggest a panel/discussion please email sajbrfem (at) gmail.com
